Weekend #30

I thought we got alot more accomplished this weekend but this is what it comes down to:Tear out row of curcubits
eat harvest
rearrange garage to fit patio set
admire empty expansive patio
admire empty arranged garage
feed treats to neighbor dog
Install new faucet in master bath(not featured)
paint 4 window sills(not featured)
sand beam for an hour (not featured)
return ladder to owner (not featured)
Fertilize lawn(not featured)

take alot of pictures of sunflowers
watch birds eat sunflower seeds
(video is shaky because I haven't had my coffee yet--and I'm an amateur)

Best tool yet.

Our motorized wheelbarrow! Yes yes, my shovel has taken back row to this one.


It hauls mulch and laughs at the puny load
It hauls sand with a smirk and a wink
Gravel on the other hand weighs 2700lbs per yard...yet it drives just fine with the loadDont forget the stone sweet stone. The only thing it can't do is help Travis lay these 100lb beasts level on the sand. *cue announcers voice*

It seems I didnt take alot of pics of the cinderblocks prior to their departure. For those that haven't visited, you will just have to imagine what 500 cinderblocks looked like.

Sweet sweet stones.

What's new?

(this is going to be like looking at vacation pictures, but funner!)



I took the 38ft planter Travis made and dubbed it "Garden of Weedin"

Took me about 3hrs and the cost? Absolutely free! You cannot get that at a luxury hotel!

Travis laid down some more stones so we can BBQ once more...soon.. only 45 more stones to go! (Thats 4500lbs, but shhh... dont tell Trav)
We FINALLY got this one off our list. The living room painting is done (I keep saying that, but there are still windowsills, and the vaulted window area)
This is Cajun red.

Got this one off my list too! Now just to figure out the door situation. They came with 25lb 1978 original cupboard doors, that LOOK like panelling but are not.
*Shudder*
So now we have worked up an appetite, off to the garden, I plucked my first zuchinni!

BEST. MEAL. EVER!
I would work that hard EVERY day for this meal again.


We chopped up the Black Sea man that was the first big tomato to ripen. Ate it in salad with grilled chicken on Friday.
And we ate the first 2 cherry tomatoes

The usual Sunday picture...not alot of noticeable change. I do have 2 peppers growing but the plants remain small and unimpressive.

I have had a few visitors hang out recently...this one posed for me, where as the frog kept trying to get away. Pretty good detail if you click on the pic to make it full size
And then time for relaxing...My pedicure in Kawasaki green. Notice the awesome tan lines?

Tune in next week for Travis doing all the work himself while I go out of town with a girlfriend for a concert at the Gorge and a hotel with a swimming pool! Lets see if he takes any photos!

Working like dogs

What a weekend! I cannot list all we did. It seems to have lasted a week.

I do remember climbing to death defying heights to wash our windows in the vault.
We almost finished the main bathroom. As far as finished you can do for cheap. The floor will stay for a while. Found out if you use flood lights in the can fixures it actually puts off light. Bought a knob for the closet door and had to go back for a longer screw. 2 trips for a $4 worth of items. Yes yes, this is my life!
We painted some beige, painted medicine cabinets and 1 window sill. Only 27 more to go! Added more items to the list..sanding and painting cabinet in bathroom. Lets bring the date up from 1978 shall we?




Once again... Pictures!

Travis brought home a dog!!! Not for keeps.. she was running down a busy road on Sunday. Now I get to take her to PAWS. It was nice having a dog for a day.

Garden preweeded. Remind me why weeding on a 80 degree day is a good idea?

Tomatoes got taller stakes and retied. Now when they produce, we may be able to get between them

And most importantly! All the cinder blocks are gone! Craigslist really amazes me. We made about 300 dollars total selling stones. The last batch we sold cheaper and the buyers pulled the stones straight from the patio, and took them full of dirt. The best part was they helped with the labor portion of levelling and hauling gravel. Now we have all gravel. Phase 2 complete and now on to adding sand and stones.


Stay tuned for more pictures. The pressure is on to finish up some of these items before August 20th for the 3rd Annual House warming. There will be a few seperate house warmings, but this is the first date. (For those reading this that did not get the invite!)
